Most schools that provide course credit hold an IT course over the course of a semester that lasts three or four months, since that’s their typical structure. “Realistically, there’s no need for the training to take that long,” says Ford.
“These students were in a 6-month program for certification as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. Our MCSE program only takes 4 months. So actually we can get them certified faster, and give them 2 extra months of certification training for free, as well.”
The students have many options to choose from. ATG offers certification training and testing on all applications from Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle, CompTia, VMware, etc. “Getting an extra certification can really pay off,” says Ford. “In today’s economy, employers are looking for people that bring a Swiss army knife of talent to the job.”
Ford ought to know. 88 percent of ATG’s unemployed students land a position in their IT specialty, he says.
