The after school art class will offer students an opportunity to create several 3D sculpture projects in one semester. Often students only get to do one or two three-dimensional projects a year during school. The students will create at least one clay project using hand building techniques. Once their clay piece has been fired, they will get to glaze the artwork using their choice of unique color glazes. We will do at least two projects where the students will learn about building an armature for their three-dimensional works of art. They will complete these sculptures by using plaster for one project and paper mache for the other. We will also do a metalwork project using either wire or sheet metal. There will be additional projects added to the syllabus if there is time available beyond the completion of the first four sculpture projects. Our teachers are very excited about the opportunity to engage the students in extensive sculpture projects with extra time and resources outside of the school day.
