About This Course

The MCITP: Enterprise Administrator certification can help you develop and validate your skills in your current position or advance you toward a future job role, such as an Enterprise systems administrator, IT systems manager, Enterprise security administrator, Systems architect or Network administrator. Enterprise administrators are recognized among their peers and managers as leaders in Windows infrastructure design. Make sure your expertise in Windows Server 2008 stands out.

Audience Profile

The enterprise administrator is responsible for the overall Windows Server 2008 R2 environment and architecture. The enterprise administrator translates business goals into technology decisions and designs mid-range to long-term strategies. Enterprise administrators also make key decisions and recommendations about the following:

• Network infrastructure
• Directory services, identity management, and authentication
• Security policies
• Business continuity (disaster recovery, personnel, equipment, and data)
• Design of IT administrative structure (delegation models)
• Best practices, standards, and service level agreements (SLAs)

Prerequites

Before attending this certification program, students must have:

• Experience installing PC hardware and devices.
• The skills to map network file shares.
• Experience working from a command prompt.
• Basic knowledge of the fundamentals of applications. For example, how client computer applications communicate with the server.
• An understanding of the fundamental principles of using printers.
• Basic understanding of networking.
• Intermediate understanding of network operating systems.
• An awareness of security best practices.
• Basic knowledge of server hardware. A+ or equivalent knowledge
• Some experience creating objects in Active Directory.
• Foundation course 6424 or equivalent knowledge.
• Basic concepts of backup and recovery in a Windows Server Environment.
• An understanding of security concepts and methodologies (for example, corporate policies).
• Basic knowledge of DHCP.
• Basic knowledge of IPsec.
• Skills equivalent to course 6420 (networking fundamentals) TCP/IP configuration, server administration, network and data security.

• Create a plan that will help mitigate the effects of various disaster scenarios on the IT infrastructure.

• Optimize IIS 7 for performance and stability.
• Design IIS 7 for security, reliability, recovery, and monitoring.
• Implement virtualization to consolidate servers, support legacy applications, and create a test environment.

• Design a solution for network access.
• Design a Network Access Protection (NAP) solution.
