About This Course

Server administrators are recognized among their peers and managers as leaders in the daily operations management of Windows Server 2008. Earn an MCITP: Server Administrator certification to demonstrate your leadership and problem-solving skills in working with Windows Server 2008. The MCITP: Server Administrator certification can help you develop and validate your skills in your current position, or propel you toward a future role, such as: Windows server administrator, Server systems administrator, Monitoring operator or a Network administrator.

The MCITP: Enterprise Administrator certification can help you develop and validate your skills in your current position or advance you toward a future job role, such as an Enterprise systems administrator, IT systems manager, Enterprise security administrator, Systems architect or Network administrator. Enterprise administrators are recognized among their peers and managers as leaders in Windows infrastructure design. Make sure your expertise in Windows Server 2008 stands out.

This primary goal of this course is to help each student pass the exams required to earn the MCITP: Server Administrator and the MCITP: Enterprise Administrator certifications. To do this, your knowledgable instructor will blend hands-on labs with lecture and practice exams to prepare you to pass each exam. The practice exams identify knowledge gaps that the instructor will fill with customized, hands-on labs and tailored lectures. Our on-site testing center allows you to take the exam when you're ready,

Audience Profile

This course is intended for students seeking to earn the MCITP: Server Administrator and the MCITP: Enterprise Administrator certifications and who need an expert instructor to guide them throughout the training and exam preparation process.

Prerequites

Before attending this certification program, students must have:

• Experience installing PC hardware and devices.
• The skills to map network file shares.
• Experience working from a command prompt.
• Basic knowledge of the fundamentals of applications. For example, how client computer applications communicate with the server.
• An understanding of the fundamental principles of using printers.
• Basic understanding of networking.
• Intermediate understanding of network operating systems.
• An awareness of security best practices.
• Basic knowledge of server hardware. A+ or equivalent knowledge
• Some experience creating objects in Active Directory.
• Foundation course 6424 or equivalent knowledge.
• Basic concepts of backup and recovery in a Windows Server Environment.
• An understanding of security concepts and methodologies (for example, corporate policies).
• Basic knowledge of DHCP.
• Basic knowledge of IPsec.
• Skills equivalent to course 6420 (networking fundamentals) TCP/IP configuration, server administration, network and data security.

At Course Completion

After completing this course, students will have passed the exams required for the MCITP Server Administrator and MCITP Enterprise Administrator certifications:

• Exam 70-642: TS: Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure, Configuring
• Exam 70-643: TS: Windows Server 2008 Applications Infrastructure, Configuring

• Exam 70-647: Pro: Windows Server 2008, Enterprise Administrator

• Plan for both Windows Server 2008 installation and upgrade from a previous version of Windows Server to Windows Server 2008.
• Plan the configuration of different applications services in Windows Server 2008.
• Create a plan to secure the Windows Server 2008 environment.
• Create a monitoring plan for the Windows Server 2008 environment.
• Create a plan that will help mitigate the effects of various disaster scenarios on the IT infrastructure.
• Create a plan for using virtualization in a Windows Server 2008 environment.
• Design IIS 7 Web farms.
• Optimize IIS 7 for performance and stability.
• Design IIS 7 for security, reliability, recovery, and monitoring.
• Implement virtualization to consolidate servers, support legacy applications, and create a test environment.
• Determine virtualization appropriateness and virtual server provisioning.
• Design a solution for network access.
• Design a Network Access Protection (NAP) solution.
• Design a solution for operating system deployment and maintenance.
• Design the deployment of file services.
• Design print services in Windows Server 2008.
