About This Course

The Tools for Visual Basic course is designed to be an in depth, hands-on introduction to the Microsoft DynamicsT SL Tools for Visual Basic program and how to use them to create new programs.

The course covers the architecture of the Microsoft Dynamics SL Kernel and the relationship of the Microsoft Dynamics SL Kernel to the Visual Basic Language. This course does not cover administration, security, and other issues related to running Microsoft Dynamics SL on a day to day basis.

Audience Profile

Tools for Microsoft Dynamics SL Visual Basic is designed for the professional programmer who plans to make Tools for Visual Basic a significant part of their development tool kit.

A working knowledge of Microsoft Visual Basic, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft Dynamics SL are prerequisites for this course. The class is targeted toward developers who need to understand the technical aspects of Microsoft Dynamics SL Tools for Visual Basic. The course is not intended for non-development staff.

Prerequites

Before attending this course, students must have:

• A working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 9x/NT.
• A basic knowledge of accounting terms and processes.
• A good working knowledge of SQL Server.
• Some experience with SQL Server.
• A good working knowledge of Microsoft Visual Basic.

At Course Completion

After completing this course, students should be able to:

• Create a Tools for Visual Basic table maintenance program from start to finish that is fully integrated with the Microsoft Dynamics SL accounting system.

• Understand what a Tools for Visual Basic (memory array( is and how to take advantage of this powerful structure.
• Implement the Microsoft Dynamics SL process Status window in process programs to communicate with the user and the event log.
• Name and compile Tools for Visual Basic programs to comply with Microsoft Dynamics SL naming standards.
• Understand how to implement the Microsoft Dynamics SL Common Object Model (COM) to perform application automation.
