About This Course

This half-day instructor-led clinic provides IT professionals with an introduction to BizTalk Server 2006 and how to deploy and manage applications to a BizTalk environment. This clinic will highlight features and functionality through demonstrations of common BizTalk administration tasks.

Audience Profile

The target audience for this clinic consists of IT professionals who want an overview of how to install and configure a BizTalk Server environment and how to deploy and manage BizTalk applications.

Prerequites

Before attending this course, students must have:

• Two years of hands-on experience managing a Microsoft Windows Server network, preferably Microsoft Windows 2000 Server or Windows Server 2003
• Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server
• Familiarity with a scripting language (e.g. Microsoft Visual Basic, Scripting Edition, VBScript or JScript)
• No prior BizTalk experience is necessary.

At Course Completion

After completing this course, students will be able to:

• Describe the BizTalk production environment and toolset.
• Describe planning considerations for a BizTalk production environment.
• Identify prerequisites and explain the installation process for BizTalk Server.
• Describe the capabilities of the client administration tools.
• Explain how Enterprise Single Sign-On enables secure integration.
• Describe the role of the administrator in managing a BizTalk environment.
• Describe the application deployment process.
• Explain management and operations tasks for BizTalk applications.
• Explain the purpose of and management tasks for BizTalk groups.
• Describe the tools available for monitoring a BizTalk Server environment.
• Describe the use of Business Rules in a BizTalk application.
• Explain how Business Activity Monitoring BAM can be used to monitor both real-time and historical data.
